ARREST MADE IN JANUARY 11, 2011 HIT-AND-RUN CRASH.

COLLINSVILLE, IL – On June 15, 2010 the Madison County State's Attorney's office charged Jeffrey Cox, age 52, of Edwardsville, with leaving the scene of a personal injury crash. This morning (June 16, 2011) at approximately 8:45 a.m. Cox turned himself in. Cox posted ten percent of his $50,000 bail and was released.

On January 11, 2011 Richard Hicks, a 25 year-old male, was walking southbound on Illinois Route 157 near Mooney Creek Lane when he was struck by a northbound vehicle allegedly driven by Cox. Mr. Hicks was dragged approximately 960 feet north and was dropped in the southbound lanes of Illinois Route 157. Mr. Hicks was then struck by a southbound snowplow.

Leaving the scene of a personal injury crash is a class two felony with up to a $25,000 fine and/or three to seven years in prison.
