Since 5:30 a.m. the Illinois State Police has handled 12 crashes in the Metro-East. A truck-tractor semi-trailer jackknifed on I-70 westbound near the Pierron exit (mile post 30) around 8:00 a.m. One westbound lane was shut down but all lanes are now open. None of the crashes have been serious nor are there any reported injuries.

The interstates are clear but blowing snow is starting to cover some areas. Especially the north/south routes.

Please remind the public:
-Overpasses, bridges, and entrance/exit ramps may still be slick.
-Give the snowplows plenty of room and be prepared for them to stop/turn around.
