Illinois State Police 7th Annual Youth Police Camp

ALTON, IL – Personnel from the Illinois State Police are spearheading a week-long residency camp for youth from the Metro East area.  The 7th Annual Youth Police Camp will be held in Alton, Illinois and will start on July 15, 2012.  The camp will end with a formal graduation on July 21, 2012.

The primary purpose of the Youth Police Camp is to establish inter-personal relations between the youth of this area and law enforcement in order to create a better understanding of the problems and attitudes of both groups

The camp is a highly structured week-long residency camp for teenagers age 13 – 15.  It will be based upon a military model of discipline and includes para-military drills, physical fitness exercises and classroom instruction on drug abuse resistance education, team building principles, bullying, and other life enhancing skills.

Sponsored by numerous area businesses, agencies, and organizations, a $10.00 fee is the only payment parents are asked to contribute.

Anyone wanting further information on the camp should contact Special Agent Daron Barge at 618.346.3842.
