Narrative:



Unit #1, being a 2002 Audi TT Coupe was traveling northbound in the right lane of Northbound Interstate 255 at Milepost #8. Driver of Unit #1 was Andrew R. Padberg- age 47 from St. Louis.

Unit #2, being a 2008 Volvo tractor/box trailer was traveling in the right lane of Northbound Interstate 255 directly in front of Unit #1. Driver of Unit #2 was Gene A. McGowan- age 47 from Riesel, Tx..

Unit #1 rear ended the trailer being pulled by Unit #2. A witness stated that there were no brake lights activated on Unit #1 immediately before the collision, which indicates that driver of Unit #1 may have fell asleep or was distracted and caused the crash.

Driver of Unit #1 was transported to St. Anthonys Hospital in St. Louis, where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured in the crash.


Several lanes of Northbound Interstate 255 were closed for approximately 45 minutes for the crash.
