COLLINSVILLE, IL Illinois State Police District 11 is still looking for a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian in critical condition.
On January 11, 2011 Richard Hicks, a 25 year-old male, was walking southbound on Illinois Route 157 near Mooney Creek Lane when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. Mr. Hicks was dragged approximately 960 feet north and was dropped in the southbound lanes of Illinois Route 157. Mr. Hicks was then struck by a southbound snowplow. The northbound vehicle fled the scene of the crash.
A witness to the crash described the northbound vehicle that fled the scene as a large silver Ford SUV or a silver full size Ford truck with a camper shell. A Ford grill emblem was found at the scene of the crash and collected as evidence.
Lietienant Brad Parsons, interim District 11 Commander, stated; "I find it hard to believe you don't know you dragged someone 960 feet. Whoever did this knows he/she did it and is trying to hide it. Someone out there has the information that may just bring this person to justice."
Anyone with any information related to this crash is asked to call Trooper K. Gebke at (618)346-3651.
