Narrative:
Unit 1 was traveling southbound on IL. 3 approximately 1200 feet south of
Crook Road. Unit 2 was traveling northbound on IL. 3. For unknown
reasons, unit 1 encroached into the northbound lane and struck unit 2
head-on.

Unit 1 traveled 14 feet from the point of impact, coming to rest facing
north in the southbound lanes. Unit 2 traveled 20 feet 3 inches from the
point of impact, coming to rest facing southwest in the northbound ditch.

The driver of Unit 1 and Passenger 2 of Unit 1 were pronounced deceased on
the scene, and passenger 1 of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased at Red Bud
Regional Hospital.

The driver of Unit 2 was air lifted to St. Louis University Hospital, and
passenger 1 of Unit 2 was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital. Both with
non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
