Narrative:
Unit 1 (white ford explorer) was traveling southbound on I-55/70 s/b at
m.p. 6.8. The front seat passenger was arguing with the back seat passenger
of Unit 1. The front seat passenger wanted the driver to pull over so that
she could fight the back seat passenger on the right shoulder of the
roadway. The front seat passenger then grabbed the steering wheel and
jerked the wheel to the right. Unit 1 then ran off the right side of the
roadway. The driver of unit 1 then overcorrected back onto the roadway and
began to overturn. Unit 1 was then struck by a blue hyundai and a black gmc
envoy while it was in motion. The blue hyundai then was struck in the
driver's side of the vehicle by the front end of Unit 4, being a black
toyota tundra.
The three occupants of unit 1 were transported to st louis university
hospital with the driver sustaining serious injuries. The two occupants of
the blue hyundai received serious injuries from the crash and were arched
to st louis university hospital and Barnes hospital. Both occupants of the
blue hyundai are unconscious from the crash, but are still alive. The two
occupants in the black gmc received minor injuries and signed refusals on
scene. The driver of unit 4 did not require medical attention.
The driver of unit 4 was arrested for driving under the influence of
alcohol by Tpr Cameron and confined at the madison county jail.
There was another two vehicle property damage hit and run crash involving a
truck tractor that occurred at the same location after the initial crash
occurred.
