Narrative:
On 08/25/11, at approximately 6:30 p.m., District 11 was notified of a
pedestrian traffic crash on Chain of Rocks Road at Dial Drive, Mitchell,
IL. A bobtail truck tractor had exited Dial Drive onto eastbound Chain of
Rocks Road. While exiting, the truck tractor struck a female pedestrian
identified as Brandy Broyles (F/W; DOB: 06/07/79) of Granite City. Broyles
sustained serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene by ARCH
helicopter to St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Broyles
subsequently died of her injuries.
No charges are anticipated at this time due to the pedestrian also having a
duty to yield to traffic in the absence of a sidewalk or crosswalk.
