Narrative:Unit #1, an ABF double bottom truck tractor was westbound on
I-270 at milepost 5.5. Driver 1 stated that as he came up over the
overpass he saw traffic was backed up and stopped in both lanes. Driver 1
braked hard, but then collided with the rear of unit 2. Unit 2 was forced
into the rear of Unit 3, spinning it into the ditch. Unit 2 continued and
collided with the rear of Unit 4. Unit 4 was then forced into the rear of
Unit 5. Unit's 2 and 4 are truck tractor semi trailers. All 4 drivers
advised they were either slowing or fully stopped when they got hit from
behind. Driver of Unit 1 was issued citation for failure to reduce speed
to avoid crash.
