COLLINSVILLE, IL - Illinois State Police, District 11, reports that the overnight hours were relatively calm with only two crashes occurring. Neither of the crashes involved injuries. Since 6:00 a.m. on February 1 the Illinois State Police, District 11, has handled 29 crashes and assisted over twice as many stranded/stuck motorists. Of the 29 crashes handled, three of them involved injuries. We have seen a lower volume of traffic on the roads during the storm. Had the traffic volume not been as light the number of crashes and injuries could have been much higher.

Interstates are passable but portions are still snow/sleet/slush covered. This is not a green light for people to start heading out and about. We still urge people to only get out if they need to.

If it is necessary to drive, motorists are reminded to drive safely and at slower speeds even if the road seems clear. The areas that appear clear may actually be ice covered.

Please reserve 911 for emergencies only. For non-emergencies you can reach the Illinois State Police, District 11, at *477 on your cell phone or 618.346.3990 from any phone.
